Rapid City Stevens Boys, O'Gorman Girls Win Class AA Titles

Senior Alea Hardie of Sioux Falls O’Gorman won her third straight Class AA cross country championship and led her team to its second straight team title. Hardie, a Nebraska commit, covered the 5,000-meter course in 17:31.3.

In the boys Class AA race, Rapid City Stevens won the team championship with 77 points. Junior Simeon Birnbaum led Stevens to the title with his individual victory in 15:48,7. Defending champion Josh Martin of Aberdeen Central finished third.

Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche won the Class A race in the day's best time, 15:27.3. He was 40 seconds clear of the second place runner at the finish line. Sioux Falls Christian put three runners in the top six on the way to a team title with 26 points. 

Eighth grader Ellie Maddox of Sioux Falls Christian won the girls race in 18:44.9. 

Custer got two finishers in the top five -- Ramsey Karim (second) and Kadence Dooley (fifth) -- on the way to a team title with 42 points.  

In the girls Class B race, eighth graders swept the top three positions. Ella Boekelheide from Northwestern won the race in 19:39.5. Kimball/White Lake scored 26 points to claim the team title. Potter County was a close second with 29. 

In the Class B boys race, sophomore Lane Krautschun from Bison ran 16:35.9 for the individual win, but the team could not hang onto its 2020 title. Miller went 3-4 on the way to the victory with 25 points.
